About Sean Patrick Riley

I write journalism, poetry, and non-fiction to galvanize myself and others to, despite it all, keep preserving what's good, and intertwined: childhood, cycling, education, romance, nature, friendship, reading, and the pursuit of excellence. I love a good literal and metaphorical tailwind.

After inaugurating my teaching career with a one-year stint in the Chilean Navy, I have since taught in high schools for 18 years.

I live where I was born: Seattle. Here I'm always at work on some creative endeavor, usually inspired by my wife, two children, and the students I am fortunate to teach.

I hope the amateur nature of this website conveys to you my belief in the relationship between imperfection and sincerity. ​
